El Viejo Continente was founded in 2013. Its name means "The Old Continent" in Spanish, and the founder is Daniel Guerrero, a Nicaraguan of Spanish origin. The brand's inspiration stems from the story of the crew member Rodrigo bringing tobacco back to Europe in 1492. In 2019, the brand established a factory in Nicaragua, with an annual production of over 1 million cigars. It has 100 employees, 40 of whom are cigar rollers, and it also established an academy to pass on the cigar rolling techniques.
Inspired by the Mediterranean Sea that the founder saw from the balcony of his hometown in Barcelona, this is a cigar innovated to express admiration for the Mediterranean Sea. With a hand-painted packaging design full of nautical style, it conveys sincere and fearless piety. It uses cigar leaves from the three major producing areas in Nicaragua and a small amount of Cuban cigar leaves from Brazil. The dark and oily Havana Maduro wrapper, the Nicaraguan Havana binder, and the cigar leaves from Brazil and Condega in Nicaragua as the filler showcase the best full-bodied richness and sweetness, with a spicy pepper flavor.
