Pirate's Gold is a cigar with a storied past. Originating from the Rolando Reyes brand, it underwent re-blending by AJ Fernandez. Now, under Raymond Pages, it shines anew. Wrapped in Ecuadorian Connecticut leaf, it starts feisty with pepper, then mellows into creamy, spicy notes. Its mild-to-medium body, plus fine craftsmanship shown by its firm ash, makes it a hit among cigar enthusiasts.
Out of the gate it's a tad feisty, with an opening pepper bomb that dissipates after the first few puffs before a pronounced creamy component kicks in, with hints of spice, toast, plus a floral note on the finish. The delicious creamy flavor lingers throughout the cigar. Smooth and velvety, it's on the milder side of mild to medium in body, with a mix of sweet and salt, some lingering spice and a honey bread character. Around the midway point it develops an enjoyable savory finish that stays the rest of the way. Well-made, it holds an unshakeable ash for about an inch and belts out voluminous plumes of smoke.
