“Perla Del Mar” means “Pearl of the Sea”. It refers to the discovery of Cuba and its great tobacco. Now the cigar brand with the same name is delicious. The tobaccos are aged for 3 years. The filler and binder come from four regions in Nicaragua. The natural wrapper is Connecticut-seed Ecuadorian leaf, adding smoothness. The Maduro is Connecticut Broadleaf. It has medium to full-bodied strength and pleases adventurous smokers. The Newman family honors Cuban cigar culture. When released, it was well-received. Many magazines rated it 90 or above.
We’ve heard others say this remarkable Connecticut had flown under the radar. Not sure why, as we’ve touted Perla del Mar Shade cigars ever since this long defunct Cuban cigar brand was resurrected by J.C. Newman Cigars in 2012. Matter of fact, Perla del Mar’s flavor-to-dollar ratio is probably one of the best among the cigars in your humidor. And in 2020, Newman decided to make it even better: Longer aging of the tobaccos means the blend is still very enjoyable for the newly-initiated.
